Niseko pre-winter Information 09/10

14 10 2009

There are quite a few important pieces of the coming winter falling into place and most of them revolve around prices for various services and activities. Lift pass prices are available now so you can start to really plan for your holiday, those interested in seasons passes should at least express interest on the Niseko United website.

If you are coming over the New Year or Chinese New year and you will be renting then it is advisable to organise your equipment early as there will be thousands of people trying to do the same thing at the same time. Demo have also got everything ready for the busy times and depending on who you are staying with, you can organise your rental gear now to ensure you have exactly what you need when you arrive.

Presently, there is a Sapporo – Hirafu return ticket including an 8 hour pass for 5,000 yen so hopefully that will include the airport which makes for your first day skiing or boarding for free essentially with the return transfers (pre booked) being about 4,600 yen.

I’ll keep this space updated with more information and some exciting news about Niseko Gourmet.

Igora Design

31 08 2009

We’ve been trying to do and see as much as we can whilst here and keeping the focus on things that we love, Food, Wine, Art and Design, have been visiting as many displays as possible to see what is out there inspiring people creatively.

We were present at the opening of an amazing display of ‘felting’ by Lucy Opala last month through SALA and recently made a visit again to hear about her Igora Design. Lucy has essentially, out of love for this art form, taken her work with felting to the highest level whilst continuing full time as a scientist.

What surprised her most was the amazing success of the exhibition and the sheer number of people who were amazed by the quality of her work.

With 75% of the exhibition being sold and in excess of 70% to new customers she was just grateful to be able to exhibit and have her work praised by people from all walks of life, so much so that these absolutely amazing pieces have captured the eye of politicians, socialites and industry personnel all over Australia.
